Technology and Reconstruction
Minihub consultants have had a presence in East Timor since
the early 1990's, helping to set up Information and Computing
Technology (ICT) infrastructure to assist groups working towards
the country's independence. Technology and expertise provided
by minihub contributed to timely and reliable communications
in the early years of the Independence movement. Later, in the
build up to the referendum, minihub provided support and service
enabling critical communications for Xanana Gusmao's support
office while he was imprisoned prior to ET's independence ballot.

Empowerment through Training
Minihub's activities in building up ICT infrastructure
are partnered with an emphasis on empowering local
groups and grass-roots organisations through training
and skills transfer. Acting upon the belief that autonomy
is fundamental to the effective operation of non-government
and activist organisations, minihub strives to give
organisations control over their own data and information
systems through training programs. By developing skills
in locals, an indigent skills base is formed, with
individuals well placed to pass their knowledge on
to others within their community through education
or mentoring.
