| What is Webmail?
Webmail is a method of email access using
a web-browser. You can do most of the things you would normally
do using your usual email client; send and receive mail, compose
mail, maintain an addressbook, etc.
|
| Why would I care
about Webmail?
There are 2 main ways of accessing email
accounts:
1. through an email client such as Eudora, Kmail or Outlook,
or
2. through a webmail browser interface; e.g., Hotmail and
Yahoo.
The advantage of email clients is that they process your email
quickly; the disadvantage is that you must configure the email
client on every computer you want to send and receive email
from.
Webmail accounts are slower to run, as you must process simple
commands such as opening and deleting email over the internet
through a web-browser interface. On the other hand, webmail
makes your email account accessible to you anywhere in the
world where you have internet access and a web-browser, without
any configuration hassles. All you need is the http:// address
of your webmail and your email password.
Minihub's email accounts can be accessed through both methods,
and both methods are encrypted. Hence you get the
portability and convenience of secure webmail as
well as fast, secure, email through your everyday workstation.
